A Little Note About the Pottery Process
Pottery is an amazing skill to learn, but part of working with clay is accepting that sometimes it has a mind of its own! While we do everything we can to carefully dry, fire, glaze, and finish the pieces you create, there are several stages your pottery goes through after you leave the studio, and occasionally things don't go according to plan.
Pieces can crack while drying, small cracks can appear in the bottom of bowls, glazes can behave unexpectedly, and, on rare occasions, pieces can even break during firing. These are natural risks that come with the pottery-making and kiln-firing process and can happen even when everything has been done correctly.
We take great care of every piece created in our studio and always do our best to give your pottery the best chance of making it safely through the entire process. Unfortunately, because clay and kilns can sometimes be unpredictable, we cannot guarantee that every piece made during a class will survive the drying and firing process perfectly.
It's all part of the wonderfully unpredictable process of turning a little lump of clay into something handmade and uniquely yours!
